“What we achieve inwardly will change outer reality.” ― Otto Rank (one of the grandparents of modern psychology)
INNER SKILLS TRAINING
A key aspect of our process is developing and strengthening inner skills and capacities.
The intention is to build capability to maintain a positive and fulfilling flow state throughout daily life.
Which inner skills we focus on in any given workshop, retreat or coaching call depends upon who is there and what their needs are. Often we start with one structure or process and then spontaneously override the original plan in favor responding to and meeting the emergent needs of the situation.
To give a taste of the range of possibility, on this web site we share 12 examples of inner skills that we work with. Sometimes we train one of these inner skills explicitly, but more often the development of these skills is integrated into activities or processes focused on something else. For example, the inner skill of perspective taking ability is integrated into most of what we do in some way or another.
These 12 skills of the inner body (or deep self if you prefer) can be broken down into four categories corresponding to Hara (will), Heart (capacity for intimacy and warmth), Head (seeing deeply into reality), and Hands (integrated action).
Hara: Ego Strength, Negative Capability, & Containment
Heart: De-Objectification & Parenting Emotions
Head: Seeing Systems, Perspective Taking Ability, Suspension, & MetaAwareness
Hands: Inner Resourcing, GroupField Work, & Integral Fusion
